Habitat for Humanity: Young Alumni Saturday

As you read in the latest Lower School Parent Update, Westminster has partnered with Lovett, Marist, Pace and Woodward to participate in a Habitat for Humanity house build for the past 21 years. Families, faculty, and staff from all five schools share the construction and fundraising efforts that make this wonderful project a success each year. Construction began at this year’s site on September 21, and the house will be completed and dedicated on November 2.

At a recent assembly, Lower School students learned about this year’s build and received their Habitat House Banks. Students are asked to help with this annual fundraiser by completing chores at home and engaging in other ways to earn money to put into their banks. Our goal is $12,000! Service prefects from the Upper School gathered at our flagpole last Friday to accept donations, and we’re off to a great start. The prefects will return to the flagpole on Friday, October 25 and Friday, November 1.

Perfect weather, plenty of happy volunteers, and knowledgable (and funny) house leaders added up to a wonderfully productive “day 4” at the site this past weekend. Every Saturday, Westminster Upper School students volunteer at the site, but there is one weekend when Young Alumni have the privilege of volunteering. It’s a great way for graduates to reconnect with classmates and fellow Wildcats from other classes. Below are photos from our fun day!
