Bees, candy, MLK Jr., The Varsity and more
See below for a few snapshots of exciting things happening around Love Hall. From bees to M&Ms to Frosted Oranges at The Varsity, Westminster’s youngest Wildcats connect learning to real life every day!
Fifth Graders explored percentages and distribution by asking, “Are M&Ms equally distributed in the fun size packages? Is there a dominant color in the packages?”
First graders created portraits of Martin Luther King, Jr., and wrote their favorite MLK quotations below their creations.
First Graders also have learned SO much about bees this year. Did you know that bees can fly as far as two miles away from their hive in their search for pollen and nectar? Students drew their favorite pollen sources.
Pre-First students use iTouches to capture images around the building. Today, the students below took pictures of squares, rectangles, circles and shapes. Here they are in the chapel and Mrs. Boggs’ office!
Finally, here are a few ideas from Second Graders about how to show kindness to each other throughout the day. “Treat people how you want to be treated.” “By meeting hate with love.” “Forgive people.” “Pick up trash.” “Say people are awesome.” “Clean the lunch tables after I eat.” “Push in people’s chairs when they forget.” “Help people when they’re sad by talking to them.” And my two personal favorites: “Give Ms. Strother a big hug.” “Give Ms. Strother $5,000,000.” What thoughtful and generous students we have! : )
